Year 2: Owls

Oxley Primary > Our Curriculum > Year 2: Owls
Autumn Overview
Parent Meet 2025

Welcome to Year 2! In the Owls, we work hard on embedding our skills from EYFS and Year 1 and further build upon our foundations before we head into Year 3 and Key Stage 2. We apply our learning through a variety of topics during the year taking on the roles of scientists, musicians, historians, artists and many more besides! Unit of work this year include: designing carnival floats, exploring the heroes and villains
of history, playing Boomwhackers even taking a trip to Antarctica in our Geography work!

As the Owls class, we are: wise, friendly, protective and brave just like our bird friends. We work collaboratively with one another, cheer each other on and celebrate our successes. We are highly motivated to be independent learners and we continue to develop our perseverance, stamina and self-reliance within all of our learning. As a group, we focus on positivity, having high expectations and we are excited to learn new things. During our educational activities, our school values of, ‘Be Kind’, ‘Be Brilliant’ and ‘Have an ‘I can’ attitude’ are central to our classroom ethos and support us on our journey to achieving our full potential.

We love our class reading time at the end of every day and books that we have read, along with 50 other books to read before the end of Year 2, are linked below.
