Safeguarding

Our children’s safety and wellbeing are paramount to life at Oxley. We believe all children should have the right to learn in a supportive, caring, and safe environment to enable them to flourish. This includes the right to protection from all types of abuse, where there is a culture of staff vigilance for signs of any pupil in distress and staff are confident about applying safeguarding processes to avert and alleviate any such problems. Everybody at Oxley is responsible for the safeguarding and wellbeing of our young people. Safeguarding is part of the culture of our school and as a result, our children feel safe and are able to learn. Alongside this, our curriculum equips them with the tools they need to help them protect themselves in their future.

The Governing Body and staff firmly believe that safeguarding is about ensuring that everyone is safe from harm – safe from bullying, safe from people who could abuse, safe from discrimination or harassment – and that we all feel safe in our environment. As such, all reasonable measures are taken to guarantee that risks of harm to pupils’ welfare are minimised. Any concerns about children are passed to our Safeguarding Team (members of staff who are trained as ‘Designated Safeguarding Officers’ in the school).

Any concerns can be raised through any member of the safeguarding team by emailing DSL@oxleyprimary.org

We are an Operation Encompass school.
This is an initiative developed with Leicestershire Police to ensure that the school will be informed before the start of the next school day when a child or young person has been involved or exposed to a domestic abuse incident the previous evening.
This will enable the school to sensitively and appropriately support the child and
family to ensure they feel safe and secure after an incident of domestic abuse.

If you wish to find out further information about Operation Encompass, please do
contact the school and ask to speak to Mr. Caldwell who is our Operation Encompass
key adult.

Oxley Primary School is committed to the welfare and safety of all our children in school. We have strict rules on the recruitment of teachers and ensure that all adults that work with us are vetted through the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
