Welcome to Year 2! In the Owls, we work hard on embedding our skills from EYFS and Year 1 and further build our stamina and independence before we head into Year 3 and Key Stage 2. We apply our learning through a variety of topics during the year taking on the roles of scientists, musicians, historians, artists and many more besides! Topics this year include getting stuck into what is means to be an explorer, discovering faith communities as well journeying to the region of Pompeii at the time of the eruption!
Throughout all of our lessons, we further develop our oracy skills. We implement, follow and evaluate the skills of being effective speakers and listeners and work on further developing the responses and reasoning we started all the way back in EYFS. Through this work, we can debate, act out, question and develop into confident children with autonomy and self-assurance. We work collaboratively with one another, cheer each other on and celebrate our successes. British Values is evident in our classroom, democracy plays and active role in how we operate day to day and we all work on demonstrating mutual respect to our peers.
We love our class read time at the end of every day and books that we have read, along with 50 other books to read before the end of Year 2, are linked below.
