In the Flamingos’ class, we are highly motivated to be independent learners and we continue to develop our perseverance, stamina and self-reliance within all of our learning. As a group, we are focussed on positivity, having high expectations and we are excited to learn new things. During our educational activities, our school values of, ‘Be Kind’, ‘Be Brilliant’ and ‘Have an ‘I can’ attitude’ are central to our classroom ethos and support us on our journey to achieving our full potential.
When delivering our curriculum, we aim to provide children with real, practical experiences so they can receive an accurate understanding of the world around them. To succeed in this, we encourage a fair and honest environment where children can listen to, communicate with and question others. Within our curriculum we will be learning about a variety of topics including; reading, where the children will be inspired by a range of authors, writing, where the children’s imagination will consume them, to mathematics, where numbers will be used practically as well as pictorially.
Within the wider curriculum, our topics will range from; learning about the history of the Ancient Greeks and the Stone Age, the geography of our local area and how it is changing, the art of storytelling and animated drawings to understanding diversity, dealing with emotions and learning how to play a ukulele or a recorder. Additionally, children will develop their scientific knowledge and skills through hands-on experiences in our science lessons, they will gain a deeper understanding in RE of a variety of religions and cultures, the children will have the opportunity to learn a second language throughout our French lessons and they will improve their skills within PE and computing.
Being a Flamingo is all about being a great member of the flock, supporting and encouraging each other to achieve our very best.
