At Oxley, we are committed to delivering a high quality PE curriculum that inspires all pupils to succeed in a wide range of sports and other physically demanding activities.
The children of Oxley are the driving force at the heart of our curriculum. Units of work and lessons are tailored to reflect our school community. Children experience team and individual games as well as competitive and non-competitive sports; children are taught the values of fair play, tolerance, communication, empathy and team work and these are values that translate directly into school life and beyond.
Through careful planning, we provide a program of study that focuses on the whole child as well as promoting physical fitness and key skills; we aim to promote SET skills that consider social and emotional development and critical thinking. We aim to give all our children the confidence to participate as well as develop their proficiency in a variety of activities.
We will continue to work collaboratively with our community links to provide interschool cooperation and competition with other local primary schools and our feeder secondary school. Through our community links, we will develop collaboration, sportsmanship, and experience how it feels to both win and lose in good spirits.
We also work with external specialist coaches to provide our children with a wide range of enriching sporting experiences. Our residential trips in Key Stage Two also offer our children the chance to try new experiences and challenges. We will continue to work alongside our specialist PE coaches to pursue the Gold School Games award having previously achieved Bronze and Silver. As well as drawing on their own passions and experiences to deliver high quality lessons, staff also use Get Set 4 PE to inform our whole school planning, progression documents, and assessment.
