In the Caterpillar class we are just beginning our exciting journey through Oxley Primary School. In our class we work hard on developing our understanding of ourselves and our feelings, making friendships, communicating effectively with others and learning rules and routines. We also learn about the Oxley values and we make sure we show an ‘I can’ attitude in everything we do!

We learn in so many different ways in the Caterpillar class. We have whole-class learning, small-group learning tasks with an adult, and we spend lots of time learning independently and choosing activities from around our classroom – inside and outside. The adults spend time observing and studying how we play to make sure the learning activities they plan are fun, meaningful and motivating.

Our learning tasks and classroom provision are delivered through topics and our themes for this year are:

• What is it like to be me?
• What happens in Autumn?
• What makes cold places cold?
• What is a castle and what will I find there?
• What will I find in the sea?
• How have toys changed over time?
